Since 2010, BRICK has been honoring the memories of our brave service members and remarkable members of our community through Hero workouts. These workouts pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and they have become an integral part of our BRICK culture. We take pride in celebrating these heroes and the values they stood for.
One of the most iconic Hero workouts is 'Murph.' This challenging workout is performed every Memorial Day as a way to honor Lieutenant Michael Murphy, who selflessly gave his life for his country. The workout consists of a 1-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats, and another 1-mile run. By pushing ourselves through this intense workout, we pay homage to Lt. Michael Murphy and all the fallen heroes.
In addition to Murph, we also have special Hero workouts throughout the year:
- 'Glen': This workout is dedicated to Navy SEAL Glen Doherty, who lost his life in the Benghazi attack. It involves multiple rounds of running, clean and jerks, and rope climbs, challenging our endurance and strength.
- 'Nate': This workout honors Army Sergeant 1st Class Nathan Chapman, the first U.S. soldier killed in combat in Afghanistan. It consists of muscle-ups, heavy kettlebell swings, and handstand push-ups, pushing us to our limits.
- 'JT': Named after Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Jeff Taylor, this workout combines handstand push-ups, ring dips, and push-ups, demanding upper body strength and stability.
- 'DT': In memory of Sergeant First Class Aaron D. Torian, this workout involves deadlifts, hang power cleans, and push jerks. It tests our strength and stamina.
- 'Jerry': This workout pays tribute to Army Sergeant Major Jerry Dwayne Patton, who died during military freefall training. It includes running and running, challenging our endurance.
These Hero workouts serve as a reminder of the sacrifices made by these brave individuals and the values they embodied. Through sweat, effort, and perseverance, we honor their legacies and inspire one another to push beyond our limits.
Throughout the year, we incorporate these Hero workouts into our training to celebrate and remember those who have given their lives for our freedom. By participating in these workouts, we join a global community of athletes, united in our dedication to honor the fallen and strive for greatness.
At BRICK, we are proud to continue this tradition of Hero workouts, ensuring that the memories of these heroes endure for generations to come. Together, we honor their service, grieve their loss, and endure the challenges set before us. One rep at a time, we keep their legacies alive."
